Terms and Conditions
A background check on resources is one of the services we offer our clients.
Your acknowledgement gives The Maris Group permission to complete a
background check including state and local legal entities and permission to
contact the references you have provided.
If placed on assignment through The Maris Group, you are an Independent
Contractor (1099 IRS tax status), you are not an employee of The Maris Group
or the client company. You alone are responsible for timely payment of all
state and federal income taxes, self-employment taxes, workers compensation
insurance, medical, dental, disability and other liability insurance,
retirement savings, all organizational charges and other professional fees.
There will be no contribution or reimbursement from Maris or the client for
any of the above expenses and taxes. You are not entitled to Workers
Compensation benefits or any type of unemployment benefits at the conclusion
of this project assignment. This means you cannot file for unemployment
based on independent contract assignments through The Maris Group. Under no
circumstances shall the Independent Contractor look to Maris, or The Maris
Group Clients, as his/her employer, or as a partner or principal.
Independent Contractor shall not be entitled to any benefits accorded to
employees, including, without limitation, worker's compensation, disability
insurance, vacation or sick pay. Independent Contractor agrees to work
through Maris on a project-by-project basis for Maris Group Clients, with
the project and Client specifications to be agreed upon between Maris and
Independent Contractor prior to commencement of the project.
